Hurrah - someone's finally brought contemporary design and innovative thinking to the traditional coaster. It's funny, when you're a kid you think coasters are pretty fiddly, unnecessary items - you can't work out why grown-ups keep hassling you to to put silly little mats beneath your cups, when cups will balance perfectly well on flat surfaces without them. Oh - how your outlook changes when you're the one paying for the furniture!All of a sudden ring marks are the enemy and woe be tide the collaborators! If you've shelled out a small fortune for a new cabinet or coffee table you want to keep it pristine for as long as possible, which means that coasters are your new best friends. Having said that though - we might have grown up enough to place a value on unmarked furniture but that doesn't mean that we've gone over completely to the dull side. If someone could come up with a coaster that didn't look like a tacky souvenir from Skegness then we wouldn't be complaining... and it's finally happened! These cool coasters resemble little plastic people with big heads, (two men and two women in a pack of four). They're made of a funky rubber material and produced in two soothing, co-ordinating colours. Not only do they look really neat when they're laid out beneath a mug of coffee but they do something that coasters should have been doing for years. It's such a simple design feature and yet it's taken decades for someone to click... they stand up. Steadily. So when you're not using them you don't have to worry about finding a container for them or shoving them in a draw.
